Hot Stripping and Single-End Crimping Machine for Braided Cloth Wire, AWG 18–28 WM-3217
The WM-3217 combines thermal stripping of compatible cloth-braided or fibre-covered wire with cutting to length and terminal crimping on one end. Suitability depends on the fibre and coating; we confirm separation, residue and conductor condition on your actual wire. It runs AWG 18–28 wire at 3,800–7,600 pieces per hour, with cut lengths of 45–999 mm and strip lengths of 0–10 mm, set from an English touch screen on a 700 × 600 mm cabinet.

Key features
- Heated stripping tool separates compatible woven coverings; the heat setting, fibre separation and conductor condition are verified on your actual wire
- Hot semi-stripping — the machine can open a short window in the braid and leave the covering attached, which keeps the fibres from unravelling down the lead
- Cut, strip and crimp in one automated cycle at 3,800–7,600 pcs/h, replacing a bench where cloth wire is stripped by hand before crimping
- English touch screen holds cut length, head strip and semi-strip values per recipe, with heating, crimp detection, knot detection and air-pressure checks switchable on screen
- Free sample test — send your cloth wire and terminal reel, we run your lead on this machine and send you the video before you order
What it processes
- Cloth-braided and fibre-covered lead wire, AWG 18–28, in appliance and heater harnesses
- Vintage-style and reproduction wiring for lighting, fans and audio equipment
- Iron, toaster, kettle and small-appliance leads where a woven jacket replaces plain PVC
- Coverings that fray or drag under a mechanical blade, subject to a thermal-stripping trial on the actual material
Suited for: woven-jacket lead wire — cloth-braided, fibre-covered and similar coverings in AWG 18–28 — cut from 45 to 999 mm and terminated on one end, where a mechanical blade would fray the weave or nick the strands. Not suited for: plain PVC hookup wire that can use conventional mechanical stripping — for that, the WM-378 cut, strip, twist and single-end crimping machine covers AWG 14–28 with mechanical stripping and a twisted second end. Leads needing a terminal on both ends belong on the WM-3202 automatic double-end crimping machine (AWG 18–28, 3,800+ pcs/h), with stripping suitability confirmed on your actual covering. Metal-braid shielded cable is a different job again — the shield has to be brushed and twisted, which is what the WM-367 shielded cable processing and crimping machine does for Φ2–10 mm cable.
Send 2–3 meters of your cloth wire with your terminal reel and we run your exact lead on this machine on video — braid cut quality, semi-strip window and crimp — before you commit.

WM-3217 — common questions
Why does braided cloth wire need hot stripping instead of a blade?
A blade has to sever every fibre of the weave at once. Some woven coverings can snag or fray during mechanical stripping. The WM-3217 uses a heated tool; suitability depends on the actual fibre, coating and conductor. Send your wire for a trial to confirm separation, residue and conductor condition rather than assuming every woven material melts or strips cleanly.
What is "hot semi-stripping" on the WM-3217?
Semi-strip means the covering is cut through and pushed back to expose the conductor without being removed from the wire. The screen takes a head strip value and a separate semi-strip value, so the loose end of woven jacket stays attached to the lead instead of shedding fibres onto the shop floor. Strip length is adjustable from 0 to 10 mm.
Does it crimp both ends of the wire?
No — this is a single-end layout. One end gets the terminal, the other end leaves the machine cut and hot-stripped. If you need terminals on both ends over the same AWG 18–28 range, compare the WM-3202 fully automatic double-end crimping machine and confirm the stripping method on your cloth wire.
How long can the leads be?
Cut length is programmable from 45 to 999 mm. For longer cloth leads, tell us the finished length in your inquiry and we will confirm what the feed and take-away can hold before quoting.
What does it need to run?
AC 220 V single-phase power and clean, dry compressed air at 0.5–0.7 MPa. The machine is 700 × 600 × 1,500 mm and weighs about 240 kg, so it stands on a normal shop floor with no foundation work.
